How to Hang Flowers From Chairs at a Wedding Ceremony
You want your wedding to be as memorable and beautiful as possible, and this means paying attention to the details. If you plan to have lots of guests at your wedding, chairs will make up a significant portion of the ceremony's furniture and decor, so it is worth heightening their aesthetics. Hanging flowers from chairs also adds an attractive element to the aisles you and your guests will walk down. Mason jars make an ideal encasement for the flowers, allowing colorful flowers to show through the glass walls and mouth attractively.
Things You'll Need
- 8-ounce mason jars
- Roll of burlap
- Rubber bands
- Ribbon
- Craft wire
- Pencil
- Hot glue or fabric glue
- Pliers
Instructions

1
Measure the circumference of the mason jars you are using. Record this measurement for use during the rest of the process.
-
2
Cut your jar-wrapping materials to the length recorded in Step 1. Measure the burlap fabric and to the same length as the recorded and cut. Add 5 inches to this measurement for the ribbon before cutting it. This allows you to be able to tie it in a bow.

3
Place a line of glue near the top of the burlap strip and near the bottom of the burlap strip. Next, wrap the burlap around the side of the jar like a label. Hold the burlap while it dries or tie a rubber band around the jar to keep pressure on the wrapping while the glue dries.
-
4
Wrap the ribbon around the jar and make a not to cinch the ribbon around the jar. Put a dab of glue behind the knot to secure the ribbon to the jar. Tie the ribbon into a bow after the dab of glue dries.
-
5
Cut a piece of wire that is 6 inches long to serve as the hanger for the jar. Roll both ends of the wire around a pencil. Make the loops as tight around the pencil as possible. Leave roughly 4 inches of this wire unrolled. The unrolled section is used as the hanger for a chair. Remove the pencils from the loops, as these are used to attach the hanger to the jar.
-
6
Measure a second piece of wire with double the length from Step 1, i.e. if the circumference of the jar is 9 inches, make the wire 18 inches. Place the wire underneath the jar mouth, just under the ledge and begin curving the wire around the jar neck. Halfway around the jar, thread the wire through one loop of the hanger.
-
7
Continue wrapping the wire around the jar and then thread it through the second loop on the hanger when the wire is opposite the first loop. Continue wrapping the wire for another revolution, threading it through both loop hooks. Use the pliers to twist the loop and the wrapping wire closer together and angle them downward against the body of the jar.
-
8
Arrange your flowers inside the jar. If possible, allow the most attractive parts of the petals and leaves to stand slightly outside the jar. Repeat Step 1 to Step 8 for each flower you want to hang. Place the jars on the aisle side of your chairs.

Tips & Warnings
Use flower and ribbon colors that add to the theme of your wedding.
Substitute another fabric wrap for burlap, if desired.
Ensure that the base wire wrapping the jar neck is set snugly. Use the pliers to cinch this wire tight on the jar to prevent slips from the hanger.
