How to Make a Soda Pop Shirt Applique
An applique is a piece of fabric with an adhesive backing that is crafted into a particular shape. The sewer or craft maker draws a sketch or rough outline of a design, such as a flower, animal or even a soda pop can or bottle. The design is totally up to the creator and her ability to render a drawing that depicts the desired image. Making a soda pop shirt applique is not difficult and requires only basic sewing skills.

1
Draw your soda pop design on a piece of tracing paper, using a pencil.
-
2
Put the drawn design under a section of iron-on adhesive and trace the design onto the iron-on adhesive using your pencil.
-
-
3
Cut out the design traced onto the iron-on adhesive using scissors, leaving about 1/2 inch of space outside the edges of the lines. Do not cut directly on the lines themselves.
-
4
Choose a fabric in a color of your liking, then heat an iron and dampen a cloth. Place the damp cloth over the applique. Once hot, iron the iron-on adhesive on the fabric you choose. Be sure to iron the right side of the fabric, the drawn design should be facing up.
-
5
Cut out the design tightly along the drawn lines of your soda pop drawing using scissors.
-
6
Pull off the adhesive backing from the iron-on adhesive, then stick the applique to your shirt. Iron over the applique to make it adhere.
-
7
Color in your soda pop applique using one or more water-soluble pens.
-
8
Stitch the soda pop applique to the shirt, then cut off any loose threads with scissors.
