Instructions

    • 1

Place the clay on a flat work surface and knead it until it's warm and pliable. Roll it out until you have a slab about 1/2 inch thick. Press the jar lid down into the clay twice to create two circular cutouts, which will form the base and top of your toothbrush holder.

    • 2

Tear off pieces of the remaining clay slab and roll them into long tubes of clay. Stack the tubes on top of the circular base to form the sides of the toothbrush holder. Smooth the sides with your fingertips, or leave the coils as they are for texture.

    • 3

Cut four holes large enough for a toothbrush handle in the second circular cutout. Place the cutout on top of the holder and smooth the sides into place. Bake the clay, fire it or let it air dry according to the instructions, and paint it if desired.
