How to Make a Pony Bead Bracelet Really Tight
Pony beads are medium-sized plastic beads that can be found in almost every color you can imagine. This makes creating distinctive bracelets easy. You can make bracelets to wear for different occasions, or give them out to your friends. The pattern and color possibilities are nearly endless. Pony bead bracelets are very straightforward to make as well. Make sure they hug your wrist tightly to ensure that the bracelets do not slip-off.

1
Cut a length of string or cord about 10-inches long. You can make the string slightly longer, if you think you will need more room for beads. You can use almost any type of string, such as hemp or embroidery floss; however, the string you use should be about 8-millimeters thick, in order to thread easily through the beads, but still remain strong.
-
2
Tape one end of the string to your work surface. You can also clip one end to a clipboard. This helps to keep the string still as you work. Secure about 1 1/2 inches at the end, to leave enough room for the knot.

3
Lay out your beads in the pattern you want for your bracelet. Lining up the beads on your work surface before you begin stringing will help keep your design organized.
-
4
String the beads onto the cord, one at a time, following the pattern you laid out. Generally, an adult wrist will need between 25 and 35 pony beads.
-
5
Measure the length of the bracelet every now and then. Holding the ends securely, lift the bracelet and wrap it around your wrist to check whether it’s nearing the right length. You’re looking for a bracelet that wraps snugly around your wrist.
-
6
Tie the two ends of the cord together, when you’ve finished stringing the beads. To do this, wrap the bracelet around your wrist. Holding the string ends together, bring them down and cross them over the main body of string. This creates a loop. Pull the ends under the strings and through the loop. Tighten the knot, pushing it down towards the beads, so the bracelet is tight.
-
7
Cut off any excess string and move one of the beads over the knot, so it’s hidden.
