DIY: Cork Coasters With Paper
If you are interested in making a handmade gift for a loved one but are not quite sure what to make, cork coasters make lovely gifts. The coasters are easy to assemble, and allow you to use your imagination for creative and interesting coasters. Choose a shape for the coasters, the size and decorative papers that will be decoupaged to the coasters. These home decor items also make great gifts for a housewarming party or wedding gift.
Things You'll Need
- Round stencil
- Pencil
- Thin cork
- Patterned paper
- Felt
- Scissors
- Spray adhesive
- Mod podge
- Craft sponge
- Acrylic sealer

Trace your stencil onto the thin sheet of cork, paper and felt and cut them out. Spray the adhesive onto your cork piece and press the paper firmly on top of it, being sure it is lying on the cork evenly. Let the adhesive dry for a few minutes.

Spread a thin, even layer of Mod Podge onto the top of your coaster with a craft sponge. Try to avoid using a regular paintbrush to apply the Mod Podge as it can cause streaks from the bristles. Let it sit for 20 minutes to dry, then repeat the process three more times for a total of four coats.

Spray the top of your coaster with the acrylic sealer and let dry. Flip it over and spray the backside of the coaster with the spray adhesive, cover it with the piece of felt and let it dry.
