How to Make Miniature Icing Rabbits
Tiny bunnies sitting on a cake can be used to decorate desserts for Easter or any special occasion. The ears and fluffy, white tail distinguish rabbits from other animals. For your icing rabbits to be easily recognized, create them from a back view so the ears and tail are seen. These icing rabbits use the most basic of piping techniques, and even a beginner can create them. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

-
1
Fit a piping bag with a No. 2 writing tip, and fill the bag with buttercream icing.
-
2
Hold the bag perpendicular to the cake and press the side of the bag with one hand while directing the tip with the other hand. Hold the bag steady for a moment until a dot of icing comes out onto the cake, and slowly move it up along the cake surface while easing the pressure to create a bulb shape with the tip facing away from you. This is the body of the rabbit.
-
-
3
Press the bag slowly to extrude a small dot of icing onto the cake surface. Release pressure and lift the bag straight up from the cake at the tip of the bulb to leave a dot for the rabbit head.
-
4
Wait for 10 minutes for the body and head of the rabbit to dry and harden.
-
5
Switch to a No. 1 writing tip on the end of the piping bag.
-
6
Squeeze a small dot of icing onto the base of the body for the cotton tail of the rabbit.
-
7
Pipe two more bulb shapes at the top of the head to make the ears. Stretch out the ears to make them longer by moving the tip of the piping bag slowly away as you ease pressure.
