After a summer of wearing flip flops and running barefoot on the beach, your feet are probably suffering from dryness and cracking. If applying lotion frequently isn't restoring your feet to baby softness, opt for baking soda. Baking soda is a trusty method to remove odors from refrigerators and cat litter boxes; however, it also has its place in personal care. The best thing about baking soda is that it's more cost effective than conventional beauty products on the market.

Baking Soda Scrub

Mix together three parts baking soda and one part water in a bowl.

Rub the baking soda solution into your feet to remove dead skin and smooth rough patches. Pay special attention to your heels and calloused areas.

Rinse the paste off with warm water. Apply lotion if desired.

Baking Soda Soak

Fill a bucket or tub with warm water.

Spoon 3 tablespoons of baking soda into the water; swish it around until it is well mixed.

Soak your feet in the water for at least 10 minutes to soften the rough, calloused areas. The soak also allows the water to get into the cracks of your feet and in between your toes.

Rinse with warm water; follow with an application of lotion.

Tip

Baking soda also help eliminate foot odor.
