Risk management is an important field in finance and insurance field. It involves evaluating and measuring business risks with the aim of minimizing risks and losses that may affect the financial health of the organization. To achieve their goals, risk managers assess the exposure of an organization, control activities and make management decisions toward the goal of limiting the risks and losses an organization may incur.

      Acquire a university degree in risk management, finance and/or accounting, as risk management is mostly associated with functions within the legal, internal audit and tax fields. This will give you hands-on experience with the job requirements and expose you to the field as you learn how to advance your career in risk management.

Professional bodies such as Associated Risk Managers, the American Risk and Insurance Association or the Public Risk Management Association are some of the bodies that can be useful in your growth by keeping your skills up to date through the conferences and workshops they organize.

Such skills include; leadership, presentation, negotiation, problem solving, analytical, communication and organizational.
