Yucca is actually a plant genus that includes roughly 40 different species of plants. The various species of the Yucca genus are typically found in the southwestern United States, as well as Mexico. There are other species of Yucca, however, that are native to the southeastern United States, as well as the Caribbean islands.   • Herbicide
  • Pruning shears

      Don protective clothing as well as gloves before attempting to deal with your yucca plant. Most species have very sharp leaves that can damage unprotected skin.

      Remove foliage and side branches with the pruning shears.

      Cut the main section of trunk with a saw roughly one foot above the ground.

      Drill as many one- to two-inch holes as you can into the trunk of the yucca plant .

      Pour a herbicide into the holes. The herbicide will spread through the root system and kill the yucca plant.

      Use the shovel and pickax to remove the root system of the yucca plant after a couple weeks have passed and you can be sure the herbicide has spread throughout the plant.
