Throwing Your Own Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner is a time for family and friends to gather together to celebrate the impending nuptials and to practice for the wedding ceremony. Typically the couple, their parents and people in the wedding party attend the rehearsal dinner. It is customary that the groom's parents throw the rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding, but throwing your own rehearsal dinner is appropriate as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Evaluate your wedding budget. All wedding events should be included in the budget. Establish a dollar limit for how much you can spend on the rehearsal dinner.

    • 2

Choose the venue. Use your budget and food preferences to find the right restaurant or outdoor location. If you choose a place that does not offer food, you will need to contact caterers or arrange for the food yourself. Call potential venues and arrange to visit in person.

    • 3

Inform the guests. If it is a large rehearsal dinner, send out invitations listing the address, time and location information. If it is a small, intimate affair, call or email guests to invite them.

    • 4

Decorate the site. Hang balloons monogrammed with your names and wedding date. It just needs to be simple, as the wedding is the very next day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even if you do not plan on giving a speech or toast, prepare one just in case.
