How to Troubleshoot the Echolab MVS-5

The Echolab MVS-5 is a production switchboard that can be used by all kinds of production teams to manage multiple audio and video feeds. The board's complex wiring and technical specifications make it difficult to repair on your own, but there are steps you can take to troubleshoot the device yourself to decide whether the device is in need of serious repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Reconnect the device to the computer it is connected to. Cords can become dislodged or slip out from a variety of factors, so ensure that your problem is not caused by a faulty cord. If possible, connect new cords to the device.

    • 2

Turn off all switches on the device and unplug it for at least 10 seconds. Like other electronic devices, the Echolab MVS-5 has some short-term memory that can begin interfering with the other components of the device if a glitch occurs. Completely powering down the device can drain all power from the device, allowing the short-term memory to be cleared.

Remove the keys by lighting prying them up with a flat-head screwdriver. If any of the buttons are sticking or malfunctioning, you can lightly blow out any debris that may prevent the button from being pressed correctly.
