How to Make Fimo Clay Stand Upright

When you’re creating thin components of your model, such as a legs or a tree trunk, it may be difficult to get the Fimo to stand upright without collapsing. There are a few tips to keep in mind to help with this potential issue.

Things You'll Need

• 22-gauge copper wire
• Wire cutters
• Rolling pin

Instructions

1. Create an interior support piece for the Fimo clay to give it extra strength. Cut a piece of 22-gauge copper wire. Bend it to the shape of your Fimo object. Mold the clay directly around the wire, which acts as a as a sort of skeleton and prevents it from falling over.

2. Ensure the Fimo clay piece has a flat bottom, which helps it to balance in an upright position. Press the clay onto your work surface or smooth it flat with your fingers.

3. Create a base slab of Fimo by rolling it out with a rolling pin. Mold the Fimo object you want upright directly to the base, which provides a foundation.
