DIY Grecian Headband
If you need a quick headpiece for a Greek drama or just find yourself drawn to the styles of Ancient Greece, you can make a hairband that goes over the top of your head that resembles the wreaths of the Greek era. By constructing the hairband out of plastic leaves that won't dry out, it will be updated for modern wear and more durable than the crowns worn in the past. Use plastic olive branches from the craft store to mimic those commonly found in Greece. You can also vary the color of your hairband to coordinate with your outfit.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic olive or laurel branch
- Measuring tape
- Heavy-duty scissors or utility knife
- Newspaper
- Spray paint
- Plastic headband
- Hot glue gun

Measure then cut a 5-inch section from a plastic olive or laurel branch. Use a pair of heavy-duty scissors or a sharp utility knife to cut through the plastic. The plastic leaves should extend from the branch no more than 2 inches.

Place the branch on a piece of newspaper in a well-ventilated area and spray it with spray paint. Use white spray paint or a metallic color, such as silver, gold or bronze. Wait eight hours for the branch and leaves to dry then turn it over and spray the back. Do the same for the hairband.

Position the branch on the side of a plastic hairband that is no more than 1/2-inch in width. Make sure the cut end of the branch is pointing down. Dab a thin line of hot glue where the hairband and stem meet and press them together for one minute while the glue sets.

Dab hot glue underneath the top leaves of the olive branch and press them down against the hairband so that the branch curves with the hairband from top to bottom. Wait 15 minutes for the glue to cool and harden before wearing the hairband.
