How to Make an Accordion-Style Binding
Give your printed pamphlets, booklets or other paper crafts a professional touch with an accordion-style binding. Accordion binding, also know as a concertina binding, is one of the most basic binding techniques used by bookmakers. Because this technique requires no special binding equipment or sharp tools, it is an ideal project for kids as well as adults.

1
Fold the panel of your book. In a basic accordion-style bound book, all the individual leaves of paper are interconnected, differentiated only by folding. To create this fold, fold each panel of your book in opposite directions -- the simple "fans" made in most grade-school classrooms are a classic example of this type of folding. Each fold must be exact and even, so use a ruler or template.
-
2
Crease each fold with your fingernail or a bone folder.

3
Flip the panel over, so that the back side of your book is facing up.
-
4
Apply a small bead of craft glue to each pair of pages. Firmly press each pair together, adhering the front and back of each page into a single, fixed unit. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.
-
5
Add front and back covers to your book, if desired. Run a small bead of craft glue along the outside edges of the first and last pages and press your front and back cover firmly into place. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly before displaying your book.
