Solid-color yarns work best for the basket weave pattern.

The crocheted basket weave pattern is perfect for any cold weather project. The rise and fall of the stitches throughout the basket weave pattern forms pockets for air, causing the crocheted fabric to have a thermal quality. Crochet the basket weave pattern with a post crocheting technique. Make any variety of items with the pattern of crocheted stitches, such as baby blankets, sweaters, scarves or dishcloths.
