How to Make Balls Out of Yarn Using a Balloon
Decorating a room with style uses many different elements. Sometimes you need just a little something as accent in a corner of the room. A bowl full of lacy, colorful balls can be the perfect decorating accent for a room. Use yarn to match your decorating scheme, or switch them up seasonally to make fun holiday decor. These simple, airy yarn balls can even hang from a tree as a Christmas ornament or decorate a wreath when you're tired of bows.

1
Blow up one balloon for every ball you want to create. Keep the balloons relatively small to keep a round shape rather than oval.
-
2
Pour white craft glue into a bowl, add water and mix the two together. The amount of glue and water depends on the number of balls you want to make, but the glue mixture should be about as thick as a creamy soup.

3
Cut off long strands from a skein of yarn. Dip the yarn into the glue mixture, soaking the yarn through. Pull the yarn out from the glue mixture and squeeze it to remove excess liquid.
-
4
Wrap the yarn around the balloon in random places, crossing over itself and surrounding the balloon interior. Use as many strands of yarn as you need to cover the balloon with a solid layer of yarn. Leave a lot of holes in between the strands.
-
5
Dip the yarn-wrapped balloons into the glue mixture to give the yarn another soaking. Squeeze them out to remove any that might drip. Lay the wet balloons on a newspaper-covered surface where they won't be disturbed. Allow them to dry for at least 24 hours, or until the yarn is stiff and dry.
-
6
Pop the balloons by poking them with the tip of the scissors or another sharp object. Remove the popped balloon from each ball. Use the finished balls to decorate your room as desired.
