How Do You Evolve an Onix Into a Steelix in the Game "Pokemon FireRed"?
One memorable moment from the "Pokemon" comic book series comes from when Onix, Brock's Rock-Type Pokemon, loses a battle against another of his kind owned by Jasmine. This initially baffles Brock and the others, but they eventually learn that the other Pokemon was not an Onix but rather a Steelix, Onix's stronger, rarer evolved form. You can follow in Jasmine's footsteps and battle with your very own Steelix by giving your Onix a metal coat and trading him to another Game Boy.

Place "Pokemon FireRed" cartridges in both Game Boy systems and turn them on.

Purchase a Metal Coat from a Pokemon Mart and equip Onix with it.

Travel to a Pokemon Center. Remove Onix from the Pokemon Center's PC storage system. Make room in your party if needed by storing another Pokemon in the PC.

Place your Game Boy parallel with another to activate the infrared link technology. This allows you to trade Pokemon.

Talk to the man behind the counter to begin the trade. Give Onix to the other Game Boy. He will evolve into Steelix as soon as you do so.
