Use a foam ball to create a globe.

Create your own model globe to celebrate Earth Day, complete a solar system or use for a larger art or craft project. You can use a polystyrene ball as a base for a globe to use for any of these projects. The finished globe will be lightweight so that you can hang it up, or mount it on anything you like. Get the kids involved for a geography lesson, using a world map to correctly place Earth's land masses over the globe.

Step 2

Paint the foam ball with a layer of blue acrylic paint. Apply it with a paintbrush and allow the paint to dry for about 30 minutes.

Step 3

Draw the continents onto a sheet of green adhesive craft foam with a permanent marker. Use a world map or another globe as a guide for your continent shapes.

Step 4

Cut out the continents with scissors.
