How to Make a Pot Scrubber From a Rope
Pot scrubbers are an essential item in any kitchen to help remove baked-on food from pots and pans. A unique and usual pot scrubber is one made with rope. The texture and durability of a nylon rope creates a pot scrubber that stands the test of time. It lasts longer than any pot scrubber made with nylon netting and washes up well in the washing machine. Use 3/8- to 1/4-inch diameter nylon rope for this crochet project.

Tie a slip knot approximately 1 inch from the end of the nylon rope. Slide the slipknot over the end of the crochet hook. Pull the slipknot so it conforms to the crochet hook shaft but still moves freely.
-
2
Chain four stitches. Make a chain stitch by pushing the loop on the crochet hook up the shaft approximately one-fourth of an inch. Wrap the rope around the hook. Pull the yarn through the loop on the shaft of the crochet hook. One chain stitch is made.

Slip stitch the last chain stitch to the first stitch in the row. A slip stitch is made by inserting the end of the crochet hook through the first stitch. Loop the rope over the hook. Pull the yarn through the chain stitch and through the loop on the shaft of the crochet hook.

Chain one stitch. Single crochet once in the same stitch as the chain one stitch. Single crochet twice in each stitch around for a total of 12 stitches. Slip stitch the last stitch to the chain stitch at the beginning of the row. The initial chain stitch counts as the first stitch in the row. Repeat this process for a total of three rows.
Single crochet stitch instructions: A chain stitch is made by inserting the crochet hook through the designated stitch. Wrap the rope around the hook. Pull the yarn through the stitch. Wrap the rope around the hook a second time. Pull the rope through the two loops on the shaft of the crochet hook.

5
Cut the rope approximately 1 inch from the crochet hook. Pull the end through the loop on the shaft of the crochet hook. Pull the end tight to form a knot.
-
6
Weave the ends of the rope back and forth through the closest row of stitching to hide. Insert the end of the crochet hook through the stitch. Hook the end of the rope and pull it through the stitch. Flip the pot scrubber. Repeat the process in the next stitch.
