How to Fix the Metal Fastener on Jeans
The metal fastener, or waist button, on jeans consists of the button head that faces outwards and is visible, and a tack that has a flat base and enters into the button head from the other side of the denim. If the existing fastener has become loose or is damaged, remove it and install a new one. A screwdriver and hammer are required to carry out the job. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Insert the end of a small flat-head screwdriver between the tack's flat base and the denim on the inner side of the jeans waist. Twist the screwdriver to loosen and free the tack from the fastener's head. Pull the fastener's tack and head from the jeans waist by hand.

2
Push the shank of the new tack through the hole in the jeans waist. Make sure the base of the tack is on the inside of the waist. Place the new fastener's head on top of the tack that is protruding through the denim waist.

Tips & Warnings
Checking that the fastener's two parts are fully attached is done by trying to twist the head of the fastener. If it can't be twisted, the two parts are fully joined.
