How to Get Burnt Rice Out of a Pot
Even the most skilled chef occasionally burns a dish. Rice is one of the most irritating foods to burn because the cleanup can be a nightmare. Burnt rice often sticks to the bottom of a pot in a seemingly impenetrable coating. If you want to salvage your pot, there is a way to remove most burnt-on rice stains. This method involves nontoxic, common household products that you may already have in your cabinet. Does this Spark an idea?

Fill the pot with enough white vinegar to cover the burnt areas -- about 2 inches above the burn marks.

Place the pot on the stove and heat it for five minutes on medium heat.

Remove the pot from the burner and allow it to cool.

Pour the vinegar out of the pot and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of baking soda across the bottom of the pot.

Wet a nylon sponge with white vinegar.

Scrub out the pot with the nylon sponge. The burnt rice should come off fairly easily.

Tips & Warnings
If the burnt rice doesn't completely come off after following this process, fill the pot half full of water and add a couple squirts of liquid fabric softener. Soak for one hour. Wash, rinse and dry the pot again.
