For Children: How to Decorate a Jewelry Box
Most children enjoy participating in arts and crafts projects. Educators, parents and camp counselors often look for hands-on activities to teach children art techniques. Transforming a shoebox into a decorative jewelry box is a simple craft that can be taught to most elementary school children. Providing a variety of art supplies for children to choose from encourages individual creativity. Children appreciate the opportunity to create a uniquely decorated jewelry box to keep or give away as a gift.

Tips & Warnings
Shoeboxes can be painted with acrylic craft paints instead of wrapped with paper.
Heavy duty aluminum foil can be used to wrap the shoebox, then etched with designs.
A used cosmetic mirror can be glued to the inside of the shoebox lid.
Tear pieces of paper and glue for a decoupage finish as an alternative to wrapping.
