How to Make Flower Centerpieces for a 25th Anniversary

Impress guests with traditional wedding anniversary centerpieces.

The 25th wedding anniversary, also known as the silver anniversary, originated in Europe, where it was tradition for a husband to give his wife a silver garland to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Today, men don’t typically give their wives silver garlands, but they might host an anniversary party in celebration of the 25 years together. The iris is traditional flower of the 25th anniversary; therefore, use it in floral centerpieces to stick with tradition of this commemorative event or pair them with silver roses to add a more modern twist to the arrangement.

Things You'll Need

• Large vase
• Floral foam
• Faux iris blossoms
• Faux silver rose blossoms and buds
• Faux greenery
• Wire cutters
• Silver bow

Instructions

1. Place the vase on a sturdy work surface.

2. Cut the floral foam to the size of the vase’s base. Wedge the foam into the bottom of the vase to secure it.

3. Cut the stems of three iris blossoms so they stand three times the height of the rim of the vase. Press one of the blossoms into the vase and floral foam so it stands vertically. Place another blossom a few centimeters from the first at the 1 o’clock angle. Place a third at the 11 o’clock angle.

4. Cut a second set of stems; this time cut the blossoms slightly shorter than the first set. Press the stems into the floral foam in between the first set of stems. Continue a third time with the blossoms. This should create a dome shape.

5. Fill in the gaps and spaces with the silver roses and greenery, keeping the dome shape as the main design for the arrangement.

6. Glue a silver bow to the front of the vase to finish.
