Stretch out the hammock and measure its length. While most hammocks are around 10 feet, they can vary. Mark the ideal location for each hook with the pencil. Look for solid installation locations such as trees at least 5 inches in diameter or a solidly anchored beam. Keep both markings about 6 feet high or at least high enough that the hammock will hang at chest level. Use locations in trees that are free from knots and branch divisions to make the installation easier. Make a mark 6 to 12 inches higher than the other to give a gentle slope to the hammock.

Predrill the holes for the eyehooks by using a drill bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the eyehooks. Pass a screwdriver through the eye of the hooks up to the handle, then rotate the screwdriver to turn the hook clockwise, applying constant pressure to make sure the screwdriver doesn't slip out of the open eye of the hook. Rotate the screwdriver until the head of the eyehook comes in contact with the wood surface, then continue rotating until the open ends of the hooks face upward.

Slide the ends of the hammock over one of the eyehooks and stretch the hammock up over the other hook. Use an assistant if necessary. Test out the hammock by swinging it back and forth and pulling it down hard from both sides. Examine the eyehooks and hammock connections carefully before getting into the hammock for the first time.

Tips & Warnings
Shorten the hammock to fit a smaller space by tying a knot around the ropes leading to the attachment hook.
Lengthen the hammock by attaching it to a longer length of rope using knots or carabiners. Use quick-draw carabiners for an easy, straightforward installation.
Non-invasive installation is possible around trees and other structures using multiple wrappings of rope tied with a slipknot.
Always heed the warnings on the hammock regarding weight limits. Don't put multiple people on the hammock unless they add up to less than the limit.
Children should never be allowed to flip in the hammock, as the design and shape of the hammock will not support them once they are inverted. Injury can occur.
