How to Make a Military Tactical Vest
A military tactical vest has a variety of uses. Hunters use them for safety while in the outdoors, while paintball enthusiasts wear them for protection. Military and history collectors also buy and sell them. Buying a tactical vest can get pretty expensive. Instead, save your cash and assemble the materials needed to make one on your own.
Things You'll Need
- Vest
- Measuring Tape
- Pins
- Chalk
- Cloth
- Needle
- Thread
- Velcro patches
- Paint

Mark the areas on your vest that you want to strengthen and add to. Consider adding pockets, sheaths, and cartridge holders.

Measure the additions to your vest and cut them out of the cloth. Cotton twill and other durable fabrics work best for the choice of cloth.

Stitch the additional pieces onto your vest. Place Velcro patches or other fasteners to ensure that the vest is snug and fits properly.

Paint the vest in whatever shades and colors you choose. Be sure to use fabric-friendly paint. Paint in a camouflage pattern.

When painting your vest, use colors to match the environment in which you plan to use it For instance, a deer hunter might want to use shades of orange, yellow and red, while a paintball player should consider greens and browns.
