1
Cut triangles, circles or any other desired shape from your felt or other fabric. Although traditional garland focused on triangular shapes, you can use any shape or design you want for the fabric part of your garland. Use a stencil for added accuracy and consistency. Use high quality scissors when cutting any sheer fabric such as satin.

2
String each piece of fabric onto the garland -- there are many ways you can attach your fabric. You can attach it by sewing it or secure it with a strong crafting glue. You can also cut a small hole in the top of the garland and hang it from the string or decorative rope with a coordinating ribbon. Ensure each piece of ribbon used for this purpose is of equal length.

Hang your garland from the mantel or across a table or desk. You can also make extensive garlands, that are much longer, and decorate across a ballroom or special event room. Measure the length of any space you intend to decorate with garland and ensure your DIY bunting garland is the length of the space with allotted extra room for proper drape.
