How to Lock a Child's Evenflo Gate
Keeping curious young children safe is an ongoing task. While it is difficult to predict every thing a child may reach for or try to discover, confining a child to a supervised area or creating a barrier to a dangerous stairway helps make the job manageable. Baby gates are available from most retailers and manufactured by several reputable makers of baby gear, such as Evenflo. Investing in a baby gate that is simple to install, and the gate's ability to move from room to room results in increased functionality and practicality.

1
Measure the doorway or space where you want to mount the safety gate in inches. Write the measurement down.
-
2
Unlock the safety gate's lock by pulling up on the lock bar, if not already unlocked. The safety gate should easily expand and contract by sliding the two panels apart.
-
-
3
Place the safety gate in the doorway or space where you want to install it. Expand the gate so that the gate blocks the space, with the rubber stops firmly pressed up against each wall or surface.
-
4
Lock the gate in place using the lock bar located at the center of the gate. Generally, the Evenflo safety gate will have a lock bar with numbered slots that correspond to the width of the entryway and a metal latch that slides into the notches when pulling the lock bar up and adjusting it.
-
5
Reference the width of the doorway or space you previously wrote down. Adjust the lock by sliding the notch into the numbered slot corresponding to your measurement. For example, if your doorway measured 42 inches, place the metal notch into the slot labeled "42". Press the lock bar down and voila, it is locked.

6
Order a replacement instruction manual from Evenflo for free. You will need to know the model number and manufactured date found on the warning label on the bottom of the gate. The manual will come in handy to clarify any issues that arise in using the gate.
