How to Make Paper Heart Countdown Chains
If you're counting down to a romantic day, such as an anniversary or Valentine's Day, consider making a paper heart chain to get you ready for the event. Strips of construction paper in colors of red and pink can be folded into heart shapes, then linked together to make a chain. As each day passes, tear off one heart to mark the nearness of the big day. Kids can even get involved to help finish this craft.

1
Cut strips or paper from red, pink and white sheets of constructions paper. Make each strip about 8 inches long and 1 inch wide. Make as many strips as you need for the days you are counting down.
-
2
Fold each strip in half at the strip's center, making a tight crease at the fold. Press firmly on the crease.
-
-
3
Place the outside part of the ends of one of the folded strips against one another, making a heart shape. Secure with glue and let dry.
-
4
Repeat step 3 with a second strip, this time gluing the heart in place while it is looped through the first heart.
-
5
Repeat step 4 until you have a whole chain of paper hearts.
