How to Go Live on YouTube
In April 2011, YouTube rolled out its beta version of YouTube Live -- a broadcasting service that allows YouTube Partners to create any time or scheduled event live streaming on their channels. As of this publication’s date, YouTube doesn’t provide a process to apply for the live broadcasting feature. Instead, YouTube is rolling out the service slowly to YouTube Partners that meet certain YouTube criteria. To go live, you will need to meet these criteria and then wait for YouTube to offer you the service.
Instructions

1
Apply to become a YouTube Partner. YouTube defines Partners as users focused on generating revenues from their current audience via YouTube. If you’re already a YouTube Partner, skip this step.
-
2
Regularly review and follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service (TOS). YouTube will not consider your account for the program if you fail to follow the guidelines or TOS. This includes committing copyright infringement.
-
-
3
Update your channel regularly and often. An active Partner account in “good standing” ranks higher than an account in good standing with light activity.
-
4
Check your account every day for the YouTube Live promotional pop-up telling you that your account is approved for live streaming. When you receive approval, go to the YouTube Live page, click the “Getting Started with Livestreaming” link and follow the on-screen instructions to stream videos.

Tips & Warnings
YouTube doesn’t guarantee automatic Partner approval. When considering an application, YouTube looks at a variety of factors such as your channel content, country location, audience numbers and whether your primary focus is generating revenue or gaining a larger viewership.
