How to Make a Felt Leaf
A felt leaf makes a soft decoration warm to the touch. Made from pressed woolen fibers, felt can be cut into various shapes without leaving a frayed edge. Craft a felt leaf as a decoration for a bookmark, calendar, Christmas tree, wreath or other attractive setting. Take time to make a leaf template and make adjustments on a paper pattern before you cut your felt.

Draw a leaf outline on a sheet of paper. For a life-size leaf, try setting a real oak, maple or other shaped leaf on the paper.

Cut the leaf outline with a sharp pair of scissors. If the leaf outline is too complex or not what you wanted, try drawing another paper pattern.

Set the felt flat on a clean, flat surface.

Pin the leaf template on the felt.

Tips & Warnings
Keep pins, scissors and pencils away from small children.
To create a stiffer leaf, use the template to cut two pieces of felt and one piece of cardboard. Apply glue to set the cardboard between the two felt leaves.
Experiment with colorful glitter glue, embroidery thread and other materials for a themed piece.
