How to Put Up a Scaffolding Horse thumbnail
Use screws to secure the two tiers of scaffolds together.

Horse scaffolds are shaped like A frames and have four legs. Used in pairs, the top ridges of the scaffolds are positioned parallel with each other, with scaffold planks of another sturdy flat surface placed on top. One set of horse scaffolds can be placed on top of another for extra height, with the user standing on top of the planks placed on the second set of scaffolds. The horses must be placed 8 feet apart or less for light-duty loads, and 5 feet apart or less for medium-duty loads. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Position two horse scaffolds on flat ground, so their top ridges are parallel with each other and no more than 8 feet apart. Place a sand bag over the middle of each of the braces that connect the bottom of the scaffold's legs together.

    • 2

Place the scaffold planks across the two scaffold's parallel ridges, so the planks are perpendicular to the ridges. Ensure that no more than a foot of the planks extends past the ridges on each end.

    • 3

Rest two more scaffold horses on top of the scaffold planks so they are directly above the first two scaffold horses on the ground, and with their ridges parallel with each other. Insert a 3-inch wood screw through the bottom of each scaffold's leg on the second tier into the scaffold planks, using a screw gun.

    • 4

Place a second tier of scaffold planks on top of the second tier of horse scaffolds, as before. Brace the sides of the first tier of planks to the second tier of planks with one 2-by-4 inch wood stud, positioning each stud diagonally. Use the 3-inch wood screws. Ensure that looking from the side the two braces form an X shape.

Tips & Warnings

  • The height of the two tiers of horse scaffolds must not exceed 10 feet in height. No more than two tiers of horse scaffolds should be installed, even if it is far less than 10 feet in height.
