How to Make Rave Bead Rings
Raves are large parties where people get together to dance and listen to music. At a rave, jewelry, usually in the form of bracelets, are often worn. This jewelry is made of elastic cords and colorful plastic beads. It’s sometimes worn to remember a party by, and rave goers often swap or give away their bracelets. Rave rings also can be made and swapped. These rings, which are effortless to make, are just a smaller version of the classic rave bracelet.

1
Cut a length of elastic cord, about 10 inches long, using a pair of scissors. Although you won’t need the entire length, a longer cord can make constructing and tying the ring easier. The elastic cord will allow the ring to stretch, so it can easily be worn or swapped among people with slightly different finger sizes.

2
Secure one end of the elastic cord to your work surface with a small piece of tape.

3
Arrange the pony beads in a color pattern that suits you. You can use beads of all one color, two colors or several colors. Make an alternating pattern, or mix things up by adding the beads to the cord in a random fashion. For an adult-sized ring, you’ll need about 18 beads. Smaller or larger fingers will need more or fewer beads.
-
4
Thread the elastic cord through the hole of each bead. Push each bead forward, until it’s almost at the opposite end of the cord, where the tape is.
-
5
Continue adding beads until the ring is large enough. Check the size of the ring by periodically holding the beads in place and wrapping the cord and beads around your finger.
-
6
Hold the beads on the cord as you remove the tape from the end. Bring the two ends of the cord together, and tie a simple knot. To do this, hold the cords together evenly, then loop the top ends back down, over the middle of the free cord. Pull the ends through the loop you’ve create and pull the knot tight, pushing it snug against the beads.
-
7
Cut the excess off the ends of the cord with a pair of scissors. Adjust the beads, so that the knot of cord is tucked away inside one of the beads.
