1
Move any objects or decorations such as bath rugs or mats away from the toilet bowl. Fixing a clogged toilet bowl can get quite messy.
-
2
Apply petroleum jelly to the rim of the rubber plunger to help ensure a good seal.
-
-
3
Insert a toilet plunger into the toilet so that the rubber head covers the exit at the bottom of the bowl.
-
4
Press sharply downward on the shaft of the plunger so that it compacts the rubber head. Repeat this process several times. When the clog is cleared, you should see the water go downwards in the toilet.
-
5
Insert the end of a closet auger into the toilet if the plunger doesn't clear the clog. Extend the end of the auger through the toilet bend. Grasp the auger firmly in one hand and rotate the handle with the other until the clog clears.
