How to: Paper Wreaths thumbnail
Transform paper strips into a decorative wreath.

Paper wreaths are an inexpensive, easy, low-mess alternative to traditional floral and pine wreaths. Depending on your budget and tastes, you can make a wreath with any type of paper, from fancy colored stationery to old newspaper or book pages. Add ribbon to make a fancy wreath, or leave it plain to show off the simple beauty of folded paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 2-inch-wide strip of paper and bend it in half without creasing to make a loop. Glue the free ends of the loop together, then hot glue the end of the loop to the wreath frame. Alternately, draw an 8-inch-diameter circle on paper with a compass and cut the circle into four equal wedges. Overlap the edges of each wedge to make cones, glue the overlapping edges together and glue the cones to the wreath.

    • 2

Continue making paper loops or cones and gluing them to the wreath until the foam is completely covered. Glue them so they all face in one direction and overlap each other, concealing the glued edges.

    • 3

Tie a fancy ribbon around the top or bottom of the wreath, if desired.

    • 4

Cut a 2-inch piece of ribbon and bend it in half to make a loop. Hot glue the free ends of the loop to the top back of the wreath to make a hanger. Pin the loop in place for additional support. The wreath is now ready to hang.
