How to Get Rid of Hairspray Buildup on Tiles

Remove hairspray buildup from tiles with dish soap.

Spraying hairspray in the bathroom typically means that some of it gets on the hair, while the rest settles on the surrounding surface. Whether the hairspray gets on a tiled floor or the wall, it leaves an unattractive and sticky residue that needs to be removed. To keep the tiles looking their best, use a homemade cleaning solution that quickly cuts through and removes the hairspray without damaging the tiles or any surrounding grout.

Things You'll Need

• Spray bottle
• White vinegar
• Dish soap
• Cleaning rags
• Old toothbrush

Instructions

1. Combine 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 tsp. of dish soap in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle to dissolve the ingredients.

2. Spray this solution over the tiles, and wipe it off with a damp rag.

3. Scrub tile grout with an old toothbrush if necessary to remove the hairspray buildup from any grout.

4. Rinse the cleaning rag, wring it out, and then wipe it over the tiles to remove any leftover residue. Let the tiles air-dry.
