How to Measure for a Pillow Insert
Toss pillows are a great way to change the look of your couch, chair or bed. With just a change of pillow cover, you can create a new look inexpensively. Whether you purchased the pillow cover or made it yourself, you need to measure accurately to purchase a pillow insert that will fit correctly and look good. Lay your pillow cover on a flat surface, spread out with no wrinkles.

Measure from one side seam to other, holding the tape measure straight across the center of the pillow cover. Write down the measurement.

Repeat to measure from top to bottom, holding the tape measure straight across the center of the pillow cover. Write down the measurement.

Purchase a pillow insert the same size as the measurements you recorded. This will give you a snug, fitted look when you place the insert inside the cover.

For a slightly looser, more casual look, choose a pillow insert 1/2 inch smaller than the pillow cover on all sides.
