How to Make Striped Ankle Bracelets
Add a hint of character to your style with a homemade striped ankle bracelet made from embroidery floss, pearl cotton or yarn. Make several to complement your various outfits or one that is multi-purpose. The stripe in the ankle bracelet is constructed through the use of a series of knots. A minimum of two colors is required to complete the project. Ankle bracelets range in length from 9 to 12 inches. Triple the length of the desired ankle bracelet to attain the length of material required for the project.
Instructions

1
Match the ends of six 36-inch lengths of embroidery floss. Tie a knot approximately 1-inch from the end. Secure the knot under the clip on a clipboard.
-
2
Separate the embroidery floss so the six strands are side-by-side. Move the strands so there is approximately 1/2-inch between each strand.
-
-
3
Pick up the strand to the far left. Fold the strand to make an L-shape over the strand to the immediate right. Leave an approximate 1 inch loop on the left side of the strand.
-
4
Place the end of the L-shaped piece of embroidery floss under the strand and through the loop.
-
5
Pull the end of the L-shaped piece of embroidery floss and slide the knot to the top of the second strand.
-
6
Fold the same strand of embroidery floss over the next strand to the right in the shape of an L. Leave a 1 inch loop on the left side of the strand. Repeat the knotting process. Continue to use the same strand of floss until five knots appear across the top of the ankle bracelet. This is the first stripe.
-
7
Place the strand of floss to create the stripe on the right side of the grouping. This strand is now shorter than the rest.
-
8
Pick up the strand to the far left. Make an L-shaped knot over the five strands to the right. Repeat the process until the ankle bracelet is the desired length.
-
9
Gather the ends of the floss together. Tie a knot just below the last stripe. Cut the embroidery floss approximately 1 inch below the knot.
-
10
Remove the striped ankle bracelet from the clipboard. Tie around the ankle to secure in place and wear.
