How to Pass the Statues in the Monastery in "Uncharted"

“Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” is a Sony PlayStation 3 title that combines third-person action with platform-based puzzle-solving. One such puzzle is at the end of Chapter 13 in the monastery library: a puzzle involving four statues that must be pointed in specific directions to unlock the door to a hidden room. The clues for the puzzle are written in Drake’s journal: a series of sketches that show faces of statues with cardinal directions written next to them. These clues show the direction each statue must be facing.

Climb to the angel statue. Use the first-person look mode by holding down the "L2" button if you are having trouble locating the statue.

Interact with the angel statue by pushing the “triangle” button and pressing the “left control stick” to the right. Turn the statue to the left two times so that he is facing north, or away from the center of the room.

Jump to the goat statue, which is to the left of the angel statue.

Press the “triangle” and push the left control stick to the left to turn the goat statue to the right once, or to the south.

Jump to the next statue, which is the lion.

Turn the lion statue to the left once by pressing the “triangle” button and pushing the left control stick to the right. The lion should end up facing west.

Jump to the final statue platform, where the eagle statue stands.

Press the “triangle” button and push the left control stick to the right to turn the statue. Turn the statue twice so it is facing east.

Jump down and enter the hidden room that opens automatically when all statues are facing the correct direction.

Tip

Find the right cardinal directions by using the compass painted on the floor in the center of the four statues.
