Friendship bracelets are a way for children to express their friendship to one another. A heart friendship bracelet has special meaning for especially close friends. Making a friendship bracelet is a fun arts and crafts project for children, especially young girls. Most of the materials needed to make a friendship bracelet can be found around your own house or in an arts and crafts store.

Things You'll Need

  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Safety pin
  • Sewing pillow
  • Two different colors of embroidery floss

Instructions

      Cut the two embroidery floss strand to a desired length. As a general rule of thumb, 65 inches of floss will produce a 6-inch bracelet, an ideal size for children.

      Fold the two strands in half, and make a loop and tight knot at the top. Pin the knot on the sewing pillow.

      Arrange the colors in an alternating pattern.

      Make three backward knots with the far right strand. With the far left strand, make four forward knots. Join the strands. Repeat using the new outer strands.

      Make a forward knot with the far right strand. Make a backward knot with the left strand.

      Make two backward knots with the far right strand. Make three forward knots with the leftmost strand to join the strands together.

      Make a forward knot with the strand on the far right. Make a backward knot with the far left strand.

      Make two backward knots with the far right strand. With the leftmost strand of the same color, make three forward knots. This will join the strands.

      Repeat until your bracelet is complete.
