How to Insert a Wick in a Ronson Table Lighter
Ronson table lighters were made as early as 1930 and are considered antiques. Ronson table lighters came in a variety of styles but they all served the same purpose, to provide a decorative fixture on a table that could light cigars, cigarettes or other items. If you have a Ronson table lighter, with light maintenance, such as replacing the wick, it should continue to serve for many years. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn the cap counterclockwise. To remove it, pull out the spring and flint from the cap.

Grasp the packing with tweezers and pull it out.

Pull out the old wick.

Guide the wick through the top of the nozzle on the cap and through the fuel opening. You may need a wire inserter or crochet needle if you cannot pull it through with your fingers or tweezers. Leave 1 inch of the wick out of the top and about 4 inches below the cap.

Replace half the packing, a small amount at a time, and if possible use new packing.

Pull the wick down until about 1/8 inch of the wick protrudes from the top of the cap. Tuck the remainder of the wick back into the bottom of the fuel chamber.

Continue packing the remainder of the fuel chamber.

Slide the flint and spring back into the cap and replace the cap on the lighter.
