How to Sanitize Floor Drains With Bleach
Some utility rooms, bathrooms and basements have a floor drain. These drains can become a haven for bacteria, especially If you had a flood or sewage backup, or perhaps an animal had an accident and you flushed the contaminated materials down the drain. Clean and sanitize the the rest of the room and floor, if applicable, before you clean the drain, recommends Iowa State University.

Pour approximately 1 cup of bleach directly down the floor drain. Let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes.

Fill a bucket with hot water and pour it down the drain slowly to flush the bleach and complete the cleaning process.
