Resetting a General Electric Washing Machine
General Electric washing machines sometimes become unresponsive due to a power failure or an unexpected pause in the wash cycle. The machine may also stop working normally if the cycle is left paused for a prolonged period. Resetting your washing machine restores the controls and allows you to remove your clothes if the door lock is jammed shut. Disconnect the washer's power supply via the circuit breaker, fuse or outlet.

Turn the cycle selector dial to any position other than "Final Spin."

Check to make sure the water valves behind the washer are open, and reconnect the power.

Open the door and remove the clothes, if necessary. The appliance has been reset.
