How to Fix LG LCD Vertical Sync Problems

If your LG LCD TV jumps, rolls vertically or repeats images, vertical sync problems might be to blame. When your PC is connected to your TV, both horizontal and vertical frequency synchronization inputs must be correct to match the PC's graphic card's output resolution. Review your setup to fix the vertical sync and get the best picture quality on your LG LCD TV.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the PC. Then turn off the TV.

    • 2

Verify that you have the HDMI-to-DVI cable connected to the PC's "DVI-PC Output" and to the TV's HDMI/DVI IN "1" "2" or "3" input. Alternatively, connect to the RGB IN "RGB/PC" input.

    • 3

Confirm that you have the Audio RGB/DVI cable connected the PC's "Audio L/R" input jacks and to the TV's RGB In "Audio RGB/DVI" input.

    • 4

Turn on the TV. Then turn on the PC.

    • 5

Press the "Input" button on the remote control. Select "HDMI1," "HDMI2," "HDMI3" or "RGB/PC" based on the input used to connect your PC to your TV.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set the output resolution of your PC's graphic card to 1920 by 1080, 60Hz if Auto DVI isn't supported. Most LG LCD manuals contain a list of vertical and horizontal frequency recommendations for RGB and HDMI-PC connections. For example, for a 1280-by-768-resolution PC connecting in RGB-PC mode, a vertical frequency of 74.893 and a horizontal frequency of 60.289 is commonly recommended. Please refer to your TV owner's manual for resolution and frequency setting instructions or contact LG for additional support.

  • Your PC must have a DVI and HDMI output; otherwise, you must connect the audio separately. Please refer to your PC's owner's manual for available audio connection options.
