How to Become a Female Professional Wrestler

Professional wrestling is a male-dominated field. Therefore, breaking into the field as a woman may present more obstacles than it would for a man. Professional wrestling is more than just a sport. It is a theatrical performance. Breaking into the professional wrestling world is just as difficult as becoming a successful actor or actress. It may take years of training and competing in local wrestling matches before you become a popular professional wrestler.

Instructions

    • 1

Get in shape and add muscle before pursuing a career as a professional female wrestler. Although some aspects of wrestling are fake (for example, televised wrestling is often scripted), it is a very athletic sport that is hard on the body.

    • 2

Attend a professional wrestling school. There are several wrestling schools across the United States. The cost for wrestling school will vary by institution, however, the curriculum is similar. At wrestling school you will learn about holds, take downs, building your brand or character, how to do television interviews, ring psychology and more.

    • 3

Compete in local wrestling matches, making a name for yourself as a wrestler. These matches may be set up through your wrestling school or you may have to contact local wrestling venues. The more wrestling matches you compete in, the better name recognition and larger fan base you will have.

    • 4

Record yourself wrestling. Send the videos to the high-profile wrestling organizations (WWE and WWA, for example). From these videos, you may receive a request for an interview. Until then, continue to train and wrestle. The more wrestling matches you participate in, the better chance you have of building your brand and becoming a local, if not statewide, celebrity.
