How to Make a Lined Pillow
A lining for a pillowcase is necessary when the top fabric is too thin or when the top fabric has a texture that would catch on the pillow or stuffing under the case. Adding a lining to a pillowcase or pillow body is not difficult, and requires just a few extra steps to complete. When you are done with the pillowcase, you will have a removable case that you can use with sewn pillow forms. You can also skip the zipper and stuff the pillow with polyester stuffing instead to make the project even less challenging.

1
Measure the length and width of the pillow. Add 3 inches to each side to allow for the seams and the thickness of the pillow. Cut out two squares from the fabric and two squares from the lining fabric.

2
Open the zipper. Place it face down onto the sewing machine. Sew one square and one lining piece to the right side of the zipper with the right sides facing up and to the left of the zipper. Repeat for the other side of the zipper.

Face the right sides of the pillow pieces together. Sew all sides together except the zippered side.

Turn the pillowcase right-side out through the zipper.
