How to Make a Baby Shower Gift With Chinese Food Boxes
Chinese takeout food boxes are good for more than just your uneaten moo shu chicken. Their construction lends itself well to a number of craft projects. For example, to create an unusual baby shower gift, use a Chinese food box to make some takeout sushi using baby washcloths and ribbons. The box gives you a whimsical way to offer a practical gift to the parents-to-be.

1
Place a washcloth flat on the table in front of you. Fold the left side of the washcloth over one-third of the width of the washcloth. Fold the right side over one-third of the width of the washcloth, resting it on top of the folded left side.

2
Roll the bottom of the folded washcloth up. Roll until you reach the top of the washcloth, making a tight spiral. Place a piece of tape over the loose edge of the washcloth to secure it. Turn the washcloth on its end so you can see the rolled spiral.

Cut a 10-inch length of black 2-inch-wide grosgrain ribbon. Apply double-sided tape to one end of the ribbon. Press the ribbon to the side of the rolled washcloth. Wrap the ribbon around the washcloth. Apply hot glue to the loose end and press it against the ribbon where it overlaps.

Repeat the process with additional washcloths, as desired.

5
Fill the Chinese food box one-third full with green, paper Easter grass. Place the washcloth sushi inside the food box. Close the box.

6
Tie a 1-by-12-inch piece of grosgrain ribbon any color you desire into a bow around a pair of wooden chopsticks. Apply hot glue to the back of the bow and press it to the side of the box.

Tips & Warnings
Small Chinese food boxes fit one to two sushi rolls. Medium boxes fit three to four sushi rolls. Large boxes hold up to six sushi rolls.
Choose baby washcloths, without binding, in bright colors and patterns.
Another option is to place plush fish or squid on a white, folded washcloth. Wrap the washcloth and plush in black ribbon to create sashimi.
