How to Make a Star Ornament From a Jolly Rancher
Brightly colored, sparkling ornaments look good enough to eat, especially through the imaginative eyes of children. It turns out that ornaments can taste as good as they look if they are created using Jolly Ranchers. The brightly colored candy makes an ideal material to use in creating ornaments that you'll never have to worry about storing. In fact, since Jolly Rancher ornaments give off a sweet smell during the making process, they may be hard to keep around very long at all.
Things You'll Need
- Oven
- Nonstick pan
- Aluminum foil
- Star cookie cutters
- Straws
- Cutting board
- Ribbon spool
Instructions

1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
-
2
Place a layer of aluminum foil in the bottom of the pan. Allow the foil to cover the sides of the pan to allow you to easily lift the foil out of the pan later.
-
-
3
Unwrap Jolly Ranchers and place them in the pan. Use enough jolly ranchers to cover the bottom of the pan. Place the pan into the oven and bake the candy until the Jolly Ranchers melt into one big piece of candy, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool slightly until the consistency is semi-rigid. Press the cookie cutters into the pan to make the star shapes. Carefully remove the shapes to a cutting board. Place a straw in the base of a star point on each star and allow the candy to continue cooling until hardened.
-
5
Remove the straw. Measure and cut 5 inches of ribbon and then insert the ribbon into the hole left by the straw. Tie a knot or bow in the ribbon and hang your Jolly Rancher ornaments.
