Decals are a way of decorating your walls easily as they require little more than deciding where to place them on your walls. Though wall flowers and other wall decals are available through assorted home design stores, you can make your own with a little help from scissors and hot glue. Create a wide variety of felt wall flowers, which last much longer than paper versions, to give as gifts for friends and family as well as for use in your own home.

Instructions

    • 1

Practice sketching four or five-petaled flowers on scrap paper before cutting them out of felt. Create designs that are about 4 or 5 inches in diameter to make good-sized wall flowers. Once you have a flower you like, cut the design out of the paper to use as a tracing.

    • 2

Place the flower tracing over your chosen piece of felt. The color of the felt is up to you; go for more traditional floral hues, such as red, purple, yellow and orange, or use more unconventional colors, such as dark blue, sea green, hot pink or assorted off white colors. Use a marker to trace the floral design onto the felt.

    • 3

Cut the flower out of the felt with a sharp pair of scissors. Cut a 1 1/2- to 2-inch circle out of another, different-colored piece of felt. Glue the circle to the middle of the felt flower using hot glue. Allow to dry for about 5 minutes.

    • 4

Add any additional desired embellishments to the felt flower, such as sequins, glitter glue, more felt designs, or any other items you see fit to add. Use beads or faux jewels in the center circle if desired, or leave the flower as is. Add any embellishments to the flower with hot glue, and allow to dry for about 10 minutes.

    • 5

Place a piece of double-sided adhesive tape on the back of the felt flower for displaying it as desired on your wall. Use one flower only, or make a multitude of felt wall flowers featuring assorted colors, patterns and designs.
