How to Make a Crochet Infant Headband With Flowers

Every baby girl looks adorable wearing a cute headband with flowers. A headband adds femininity to an infant girl who might not have much hair. This infant elastic headband fits around a baby head that is about 13 inches in circumference, making it appropriate for that first trip home from the hospital. The elastic helps keep the headband on the baby's head, otherwise it may slip off often.

Things You'll Need

• Size 5 crochet hook
• Pink cotton yarn
• 1/4-inch-wide elastic
• White cotton yarn
• Tapestry needle

Instructions

1. Crochet 5 chain stitches with white cotton yarn. Crochet a single crochet in the 2nd chain from the crochet hook.

2. Crochet a double-crochet in the next chain, and a single-crochet in the next chain. Crochet a double-crochet in the next chain and turn the work around.

3. Crochet 1 chain stitch then single-crochet in the first double-crochet. Double-crochet in the next single-crochet, then single-crochet in the next double-crochet. Double-crochet in the next single-crochet and turn your work.

4. Repeat Step 3 107 times. Cut the yarn 1 inch from the work, make a knot, then work the ends in and out of the stitches to hide the yarn. This is one headband.

5. Crochet another headband by repeating Steps 1 through 4.

6. Cut 26 inches of ¼ inch-wide elastic. Overlap the ends ¼ inch and sew them together to make a circle.

7. Place one headband on one side of the elastic, then another headband on the other side of the elastic.

8. Join the two headbands together by crocheting one chain stitch on one edge, skip the next stitch, single-crochet one, then chain three. Repeat this pattern around the headband. Repeat for the other edge of the headband, then fasten off.

9. Create the flower with white cotton yarn. Crochet 4 chain stitches, and slip stitch to the first chain to create a ring.

10. Crochet a single-crochet, then crochet 5 chain stitches. Repeat this pattern 6 times around the circle, and slip stitch to the first stitch.

11. Chain 1, then crochet 5 single-crochet in the next chain stitch. Repeat this pattern around the flower. Finish off.

12. Repeat Steps 9, 10 and 11 to crochet a second flower. Attach the flowers to the headband using thread and an embroidery needle.
