How to Make a Baby Shower Cupcake for Decorations out of Onesies

Giving onesies as a gift can be updated by changing how the gift is presented.

Baby gifts range from toys to baby gear and everything in between. Part of the fun associated with gift giving is coming up with unique and intriguing ways to present the gift. Baby onesies are a mainstay of newborn attire. Giving onesies can be transformed into a work of art by making the onesies appear to be fabric cupcakes.

Things You'll Need

• Onesies
• Pencil
• Rubber bands
• Cupcake liners
• Red puff craft balls
• Straight pins

Instructions

1. Spread out a onesie on a flat surface. Fold the arms on both sides in toward the center to form a thin rectangle.

2. Place a pencil 1/4 inch from the bottom edge of the onesie to use as a guide. Start at the snap button bottom of the onesie and roll the onesie to form a roll.

3. Secure a rubber band around the rolled-up onsie to hold it in place — toward the bottom of the onesie, at least halfway down the roll. Remove the pencil.

4. Hold the rolled-up onesie in one hand and use the other hand to pull gently the middle layers of fabric in the center of the roll. Fluff the fabric to create the illusion of frosting on top of the onesie cupcake.

5. Place the rolled-up and bound onesie in a cupcake liner, rubber band end down. Repeat for all onesies until each has been transformed into a cupcake.

6. Place a single red puff craft ball on top of each onesie cupcake to simulate a cherry. Use a straight pin to hold it in place.

Tips & Warnings

• Place the onesie cupcakes in a bakery box to make the presentation even more dramatic.

• Warn the gift recipient if straight pins you had used in the process of crafting the cupcake onesies.
